Large Chinese export blue and white porcelain charger from the Qianlong period (1736-1795). The centre is decorated with a scholar's garden scene featuring a Taihu rock, flowering peony and prunus branches, bamboo, scholar's objects and insects. A geometric diaper border surrounds the central panel, while the wide rim is decorated with flowering branches and pine.
Hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue on a white porcelain body. The reverse has an unmarked base with a glazed underside and an unglazed foot rim, typical of Chinese export porcelain from the Qianlong period.
Condition: Hairline visible to the base, consistent with age. Please refer to the photographs for details.
