Victorian Photo Plaque, "Autel de l’Amitié", French Hand-Cut Wood, Cherub Decor

This rare and authentic Victorian wall plaque, titled "Autel de l'Amitié" (Altar of Friendship), was crafted around 1875 - 1890 in France. Beautifully hand-cut from metal wood and lacquered in deep red and grey, it features four photo slots (three filled with original sepia portraits and one vintage document) and highly decorative fretwork.

The lower section shows two cherubs offering a garland to a symbolic altar, representing friendship and emotional connection. The ornamental shapes and flowing lines reflect early Art Nouveau influence, making this piece a beautiful bridge between Victorian sentimentality and the emerging decorative style of the fin de siècle.
