The Venus of Lespugue is a Venus statue, a statue of a female nude, approximately 25,000 years old.
Venus of Lespugue
It was discovered in 1922 in the Rideaux cave of Lespugue (Haute-Garonne), in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is approximately 14.7 cm high and carved from the ivory of a tusk. It was damaged during the excavation.
According to textile expert Elizabeth Wayland Barber, the figurine exhibits the oldest representation of spun thread, as it depicts an apron hanging below the hips and made of twisted fibers that fray at the end.
The Venus of Lespugue is now in the Musée de l'Homme in Paris.
exacte replica,
fantastisch beeld, goede conditie
materiaal: gegoten polystone
Polystone, ook wel Polyresin genoemd, is een samengestelde grondstof. Het bestaat uit gemalen steen, onder andere graniet, marmer en soapstone, dat wordt vermengd met vloeibaar kunsthars.
