Hand-carved wooden speculaas mold depicting a standing woman in traditional costume with a distinctive headdress. The figure is carved in relief into a single plank of hardwood and displays the stylised design associated with Dutch folk art baking molds.
Originally used for pressing decorative speculaas or gingerbread dough, large examples such as this are today appreciated as decorative wall pieces and collectors' items.
The mold shows age-related wear and patina consistent with long-term use and storage.
