Rare German silver wedding anniversary shadow box dating from the 1920s.
This handcrafted commemorative display was created to celebrate a Silberne Hochzeit (Silver Wedding Anniversary), marking 25 years of marriage. The original German inscription remains present, together with a three-dimensional floral arrangement and the couple's preserved bridal tiara, known as a Silberkranz.
Silver bridal wreaths and tiaras formed an important part of traditional German wedding customs and were often carefully preserved as treasured family heirlooms. This example has been displayed within its original glazed shadow box frame, creating an evocative piece of social history and folk art.
The floral decoration consists of silver-toned blossoms, leaves and ornamental elements arranged around the commemorative text. A dedication from the children to their parents is still visible, adding to the personal and historical character of the piece.
