Description: Wonderful heavy art deco glass element designed by karl wiedmann and produced wmf, germany in the 1930s.
This glass bowl is part the wmf ikora collection made of glass with the special ikora technology of production.
This rare and highly collectible item, has a wonderful coloration.
Condition: This item is in a very good, no damages. Slight scratches inside the shell from using.
Ikora glass line by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), a German manufacturer known for high-quality decorative objects produced from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Designer: Karl Wiedmann, son of WMF's director Philipp Wiedmann, developed the Ikora technique around 1926.
Production Period: Primarily between 1926 and 1950.
Technique: These pieces are typically thick-walled with layered glass and inclusions of air bubbles, pigments, and organic-looking patterns. The designs often feature radial or branching patterns that resemble sea creatures, corals, or abstract nature motifs.
The Name "Ikora": Likely a coined term, possibly inspired by "coral," meant to evoke elegance and modern design.
