A late Transitional Porcelain Plate, early Kangxi period c.1662-1674. This thickly potted Blue and White Porcelain plate is painted depicting a mother and baby and a child playing in a garden, while on the rim you see the kang xi ornaments and The decoration of this dish depicts a mother and child playing in a garden, while on the rim you see the kang xi ornaments and blossom branches
Plates and dish of this type are well know, the majority of them are decorated with landscapes in the ‘Master of the Rocks' style (see below). They are thickly potted and normally, if not always, have borders of flowering and fruiting branches. The glaze tends to be thick and rather blue in tone. It seems as if they might all have been made in the same kilns, they date to the early Kangxi period before uprisings led to the closure of the kilns in the 1670s.
