Early 17th-century Delft collectible tile, dated circa 1620, is decorated in polychrome and depicts a pikeman in action. The polychrome and well-painted scene is captured in a diamond square, which gave these tiles their Dutch name 'kwadraat tegels'. The corners are 'painted in reserve' meaning that a corner decoration was created by leaving certain areas undecorated.
