Decorative Brass and Silvered Metal Horse - India, ca. 1950-1970
Finely detailed decorative horse figure crafted in hammered brass and silvered metal, richly ornamented with applied floral and geometric mounts in gilt brass. The sculpture shows a proud, stepping pose with stylized harness and saddle decorations reminiscent of Rajasthan or Jaipur metalwork from mid-20th-century India. Such figures were often made as symbolic guardians or status ornaments, inspired by royal warhorses depicted in Indian miniature art. The contrast between the silvered body and golden accents highlights the repoussé and chased detailing.
