Nederlandse (‘Delftse') antieke tegels zijn verzamelobjecten met een grote historische waarde. Het zijn kleine authentieke prachtige antieke kunststukken uit de 17e eeuw, vaak met een interessante weergave van deze tijd. Deze majolica-tegels zijn een soort aardewerk waarbij een lichaam van aardewerkklei (meestal rood aardewerk) wordt bedekt met een ondoorzichtig wit glazuur (traditioneel een loodglazuur inclusief tin), vervolgens beschilderd met vlekken of glazuren en gebakken. Vanaf ongeveer de 16e eeuw maakten de Nederlanders kennis met de techniek van het schilderen van aardewerk in heldere, glanzende kleuren. Bij Lokken-Ausema verzamelen we al heel lang tegels.
