A rare and beautifully preserved Russian Orthodox icon depicting the Pokrov (Protection) of the Mother of God. In this beloved feast scene, the Virgin Mary is shown holding a veil above a congregation of saints and faithful, symbolizing divine protection and intercession. Christ is shown above, blessing from the heavens.
Painted in egg tempera with a glowing gilded background, this icon displays intricate details, rich robes, and traditional Church Slavonic inscriptions. A devotional work with spiritual meaning and collectible value.
Condition:
Good antique condition with natural signs of aging (craquelure, darkening of varnish), but strong visual presence and original gold intact. No overpainting or restoration observed.
