Nederlandse (‘Delftse') antieke tegels zijn verzamelobjecten met een grote historische waarde. Het zijn kleine authentieke mooie stukken antieke kunst uit de 17e eeuw, vaak met een interessante weergave van deze tijd. Daarnaast zijn Nederlandse tegels een goede investering.
Deze majolica tegels zijn een soort aardewerk waarin een aardewerk kleilichaam (meestal een rood aardewerk) wordt bedekt met een ondoorzichtige witte glazuur (traditioneel een loodglazuur inclusief tin), vervolgens beschilderd met vlekken of glazuren en gebakken. Vanaf ongeveer de 16e eeuw maakten de Nederlanders kennis met de techniek van het beschilderen van aardewerk in heldere, glanzende kleuren.
