A beautiful authentic antique planter, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880-1930).
This substantial green glazed terracotta pot was originally intended for practical horticultural use and is particularly suited for cactus, succulents, or small indoor plants. Its generous depth, thick rolled rim and natural glaze variations give it a timeless, sculptural presence.
The exterior features a rich dark turquoise-green lead glaze with subtle crackling and flow, while the interior is largely unglazed, allowing the clay to breathe — a hallmark of traditional garden pottery. A drainage hole is present in the base.
Stylistically, the piece fits within the Arts & Crafts movement and early Art Nouveau functional design, where form, material and craftsmanship take precedence over decoration.
Period: Late 19th - early 20th century
Material: Terracotta with green lead glaze
Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear, glaze irregularities and surface patina consistent with use
Authentic antique garden pottery
utilitarian design with strong aesthetic presence w beautiful glaze tones,
a genuine antique planter with over a century of history, offering both decorative appeal and authenticity.
