Antique German military portrait from the Imperial period, circa 1890-1910.
The central hand-coloured photograph shows a young uniformed soldier, surrounded by a lithographed composition with flags, cannon, weapons, columns and the German Imperial crown. The print is marked Steinhäuser, Hofphotograph, Freiburg im Breisgau. Housed in a deeply carved black wooden Black Forest frame with geometric chip-carved decoration, typical of regional folk craftsmanship from Southern Germany. Purchased in the Black Forest region.
