Pair of Antique Devotional Panel Paintings in Polychrome Folk Art Frames
Authentiek Alpine volksdevotie, laat 18e / vroeg 19e eeuw
matched pair of antique Alpine devotional panels depicting Saint Nicholas and The Gnadenstuhl (Trinity). Hand-painted panels in original polychrome wooden folk art frames with raised floral decoration and twisted inner mouldings.
Produced in the Alpine region (Upper Bavaria / Upper Austria), ca. 1780-1820. Old collection labels on the reverse refer to Oberammergau and Sandl, known centres of religious folk art, and reflect a later collection attribution.
Offered as an original pair. Unrestored, with honest age-related wear and strong original character.
A matched pair of small devotional panel paintings from the Alpine region, depicting Saint Nicholas and The Gnadenstuhl (Trinity: God the Father with the crucified Christ). The images are hand-painted on panel and set in original polychrome wooden frames, decorated in deep red and black with gilt highlights, raised floral ornaments and twisted inner mouldings.
The style, materials and patina are consistent with late 18th to early 19th century Alpine folk art. Old collection labels on the reverse refer to Oberammergau (Upper Bavaria) and Sandl (Upper Austria), both known centres of religious folk art. These labels represent later collection attributions.
Intended for private devotion, the panels show honest age-related wear and retain their original surfaces. The pair has remained together and is offered as one set.
Dimensions (each): approx. 24 × 20 cm
Condition: original, unrestored, with age-related wear consistent with use and age
Carefully packed, secured shipping
