Hand-carved African nutcracker in the form of a stylised female figure, carved from dark hardwood with contrasting brown grain, possibly ebony or African blackwood. The figure forms the handle of the working nutcracker and is decorated with incised geometric motifs around the waist and skirt. A decorative and functional example of African folk art, dating to the second half of the 20th century. Height: 34 cm.
