A charming and rare French bridal chair (porte-alliances) dating from the 19th century.
These ceremonial objects were used during wedding ceremonies to present the bridal rings, which were placed on the red velvet cushion. full of symbolic: The delicate metal frame is richly decorated with gilded ivy leaves and flowers, traditional symbols of fidelity and everlasting love.
The piece is crowned by a gilded bird holding a laurel wreath, a classical emblem of honour, happiness and the celebration of marriage. Small mirrors add a refined decorative accent and enhance the festive character of the object.
The red velvet cushion, surrounded by an elegant gilt gallery, forms the centre of the composition. The chair stands on its original black base, creating a contrast with the gilded ornamentation.
A romantic object, reflecting the refined wedding traditions of 19th-century France.
