Indian Silver and Enamel Elephant with Riders - Jaipur, First Half 20th Century
Handmade Indian figure of an elephant with riders beneath a canopy. Decorated with polychrome meenakari enamel in blue, green, pink and white tones, with hanging ornaments and floral motifs. The base and underside are finished with chased silver work.
Originating from Jaipur, Rajasthan, this type of ceremonial elephant reflects traditional Indian courtly processions and was produced during the first half of the 20th century.
